Emmett Till
Last night I watched the Emmett Till story on PBS. It was heartbreaking.
I was surprised to learn all the bits I hadn't known from before. Quite shocking how many people are still alive... He was such a lovely and vital looking child it really broke me to see what they did, and to know that he was his mother's only child. Like a monster was right. I really admired the Black men who testified. I dont know if I could have (though I would like to believe I would in reality that kind of fear is just crippling), just hearing how willie reed had a breakdown shows how psychologically brutal alone the time was.
America, land of the free? Propaganda is a beautifully heinous thing. Things have barely changed...prisons have become the new lynching. Ten times more is spent to incarcerate than to educate. Just look at the story of Marcus Dixon

Then, if you are so inclined push to have the case re-opened. Both Black eyewitnesses testified that there were accomplices... Hoover and Eisenhower refused to look into it when his mother took the fight to DC... maybe if enough people stir out of apathy something will change.
