Waning Moon Ritual For Letting Go

WANING MOON RITUAL FOR LETTING GO

Perform whenever you need to release sadness, depression, fear, anger, negativity or bitterness.

*** This ritual is best held in the hours from 3a.m. - early dawn in the waning phase of the Moon.***

What you will need:

CD of soothing music (preferably ambient w/subdued or sparse lyrics or purely instrumental)

3 sticks of incense (any soothing fragrances e.g. lilac, lavender, sage, frankincense)

2 white candles

pen/marker

a pad of writing paper

a fireproof container (e.g. ashtray)

1) Start your music and turn on the lights around you

2) Line up the candles and the incense holder(s) so that the incense is flanked on the left and the right by a candle each.

3) Light the incense

4) As you inhale the aroma, ask your body and spirit to release any thought forms that are not in accordance with your highest potential. Be willing to look at where you might be harboring doubt, suspicion or fear.

With each inhale affirm that you are breathing in the healing energies of the Univese and that you have the power to transform yourself.

With each exhale affirm that outmoded emotions and thoughts will be transformed into NEW energy.

(do this for 3- 5 minutes)

5) Light the candles.

Focus on their flames. They symbolize peace, truth and protection. Meditate on their light as you ask yourself what is out of sync in your life right now.

6) Turn off all electrical lights (the room should only be lit by the candles now)

The darkness around you now represents the absorbing/transforming power of the dark moon.

Imagine all of your pain and anger being pulled out of you. Swirling and rising away like the smoke of the burning incense against the candle light. Cast your eyes straight ahead and see how the darkness fades to light and vice versa. Focus on this horizon and focus on your pain and anger. Do this until you can feel the pain and anger rising to the surface. You may feel to moan, groan, throw up, beat yourself, cry. This is no time for stoic dignity. Let it all out. Just release.

Once you have experienced this catharsis..

7) Take a small piece of paper and write WITH AS MUCH EMOTION AS YOU CAN MUSTER one thing you want to release/transform

8) Fold the paper into smaller and smaller triangles. Set it on fire in the fireproof container.

Focus your thoughts on the person/emotion you wrote about as you watch the flames grow and die away.

Repeat this process for any and all emotions, fears, resentments, anger, betrayal, sadness etc. that you need to release. Keep writing and burning until you feel some CLARITY. Keep going as long as it takes.

9) Turn back on all the lights.

You are now surrounded by light and positivity. See how it chases the night and shadows away. Now you need to replace the darkness you have just released with light. Fill it with affirmations of your choosing.

10) Write an affirmation (in the PRESENT TENSE) on a sheet of paper. Keep writing it over and over until the page is full.

11) Fold the paper into smaller and smaller triangles. Set it on fire in the fireproof container. As it burns focus on the flames and repeat your affirmation in a soft (or loud) clear voice until the flames have fully extinguished

12) Lie down flat on the floor and meditate on the flames and smoke about everything you have just experienced. What you want to take away from this experience. And on if you feel better. When you are ready to walk away/go to bed. Do so. Leave the candles and incense to burn themselves out (in a SAFE area).

For maximum effect, of if you are suffering from serious depression/apathy do this ritual 3 days in a row (finishing on the NEW MOON)
